Boardgame & CCG Guidelines

A Legal Disclaimer

For all Board Game and Collectable Card Game sessions at Tabletop Legends.

Our club thrives on fair play, friendly competition, and shared enjoyment. Whether you’re battling in a strategy game, trading cards, or teaching something new, these simple guidelines help keep every table welcoming and fun.

1. Play Fair

  • Follow the rules of the game as written, unless the group agrees on house rules beforehand.

  • No cheating, angle-shooting, or manipulating new players.

  • Respect that everyone plays at different skill levels - kindness always outranks competitiveness.

2. Be a Good Sport

  • Win or lose, keep it light.

  • Celebrate clever plays, not crushed opponents.

  • Avoid gloating, blaming, or arguing over calls - the goal is fun, not flawless record-keeping.

3. Welcome New Players

  • If someone’s learning, teach patiently and clearly.

  • Let beginners make small mistakes and learn through play.

  • Offer tips when asked, not constant commentary.

4. Keep It Safe

  • No real-world gambling or betting on game outcomes.

  • Handle cards, boards, and pieces with care - treat them like shared treasure.

  • Food and drinks are fine but keep them off play areas where possible.

  • Be mindful of space: large board games or trading setups should leave room for others.

5. Mind the Mood

  • Choose games appropriate for the group and setting (e.g., avoid very dark or adult themes during open sessions).

  • Check if players are comfortable with bluffing or take-that mechanics before starting.

  • If a rule or theme causes tension, pause and talk it through.

6. Respect Personal Collections

  • Always ask before handling someone else’s cards, minis, or components.

  • If you borrow, return everything in the same condition it was given.

  • No buying, selling, or trading of cards or games during official club sessions unless approved by the Committee (to keep focus on play).

7. Share the Table

  • Rotate games and groups so everyone gets a chance to play.

  • Offer to teach a game you love but also be open to trying others.

  • Clear tables promptly after your game ends so others can set up.

8. Remember Why We Play

We’re here to build community through games - not competition, exclusion, or ego.
Play fair. Be generous. Make sure everyone at the table leaves smiling and looking forward to next time.
